What is EMDR Consultation?
EMDR Consultation refers to meeting with another therapist, typically an EMDRIA approved Consultant or Consultant-in-Training (CIT), to consult on your EMDR practice.
What are the different types of consultation?
EMDR trained therapists undergo 10 hours of consultation post-basic training.
Additionally, consultation refers to seeking support on complex or challenging cases or working towards becoming and EMDR certified therapist. An EMDR certified therapist must meet several requirements, including 20 hours of consultation (15 can be completed with a CIT).
Importantly, consultation can be done individually in one-on-one sessions or as part of a group.
Why EMDR Consultation?
EMDR consultation is a dedicated space to focus on your needs and your personal growth journey as an EMDR Therapist. You have the freedom to talk, explore, and try out potential solutions to complex cases.
In EMDR consultation, you have a protected and supportive place to identify areas you want to work on as an EMDR therapist. Becoming an EMDR certified therapist allows you to tackle more complex issues with your clients and better support their healing through EMDR.
Therefore, the focus in EMDR consultation is to help you feel supported and strengthen your confidence and ability as an EMDR therapist.
